Jean A. Grace
Senior Researcher and Writer
Jean takes a leading
role in the research digest business of Spann
Communications (SC) and contributes to its policy brief series.
She
also handles SC logistics. In addition to her assignments
for SC, she
directs the Public and Professional Writing program at the
University
of Pittsburgh, where she teaches classes in Writing for the
Public,
Integrating Writing and Design, Advanced Research and Documentary
Writing, and Tutoring Peer Writers. She is a recipient of
the Pitt
English Department's Distinguished Teaching Award. She has
also taught
writing in graduate classes at both the Heinz School of Public
Policy
and Management and the Tepper School of Business at Carnegie
Mellon
University.
Jean's degrees include a BA in liberal
studies with a certificate in
Jewish studies; an MA in literature; and a PhD in English
with a
certificate in Composition, Pedagogy, and Literacy, all from
the
University of Pittsburgh.
Jean is an avid reader and writer of nonfiction
(especially nonfiction
that explores social problems and advocacy).
