Rob Henning
Design Director

Rob is the lead designer for Spann Communications (SC). Prior to joining SC, he worked for years in several of Pittsburgh's most prestigious design firms (e.g., Agnew Moyer Smith) before developing his own independent firm, Rob Henning Design. He has done major design work for The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops/Retirement Fund for Religious. Locally, his clients include The Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh, The Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh, The Andy Warhol Museum, and The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust, among others. He has also served as an assistant adjunct professor in the School of Design at Carnegie Mellon University.

Rob earned a BFA in graphic design with honors at the Philadelphia College of Art (1982), now known as The University of the Arts.

An avid outdoorsman, Rob often leads hiking, backpacking, canoeing, and sea-kayaking trips for the Western Pennsylvania Field Institute (WPFI), a local nonprofit organization that promotes outdoor recreation in and around Pittsburgh. He finds inspiration for his artistic work in his outdoor pursuits and in gardening and travel. He is also a founding and past board member of Pittsburgh Urban Magnet Project (PUMP), a nonprofit dedicated to making Pittsburgh a more livable place for young and young-thinking people.
