Shannon takes on technical writing assignments for SC and manages the group's new readership databases and publication fulfillment activities. She also analyzes and documents survey results.

Shannon's degrees include a BA in French with a certificate in teaching French (Colby College) and a JD (Duquesne University) with a specialty in labor law, both from management and union perspectives. On a pro bono basis, she represents plaintiffs in protection-from-abuse legal actions.

Singing has always been part of Shannon's life. For several years, she has sung in the Mendelssohn Choir of Pittsburgh, which frequently performs with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, and has served as a choir representative to the choir's board of directors; currently she serves on the board's Marketing Committee.
