Families for Kids: A Powerful Approach to System Reform

An article commissioned for an educational magazine of the W. K. Kellogg Foundation, Y and E Lessons in Learning. The article provides an assessment of system reform lessons learned from the Families for Kids (FFK) initiative as well as its impact on children in implementation states and on national foster care and adoption policy.

Client: Pace & Partners provided project supervision, editing, and design.

What We Did: We did the research and writing and generated the art ideas.

Quality, Benefits, and Impacts: The article and magazine as a whole have been used to educate program staff within the foundation; some 250 active grantees in the Youth and Education grantmaking portfolio of the foundation; as well as approximately 1,000 members of the Council on Foundations' affinity groups: Grantmakers for Children, Youth, and Families, and Grantmakers for Education.

Partners: FFK evaluation consultants and several former executive directors of FFK grantee sites offered data, program resources, and perspectives.
