Client
and Partners: The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation
funded the series, and, together with the Center
for Practical Bioethics (formerly the Midwest
Bioethics Center, C-SP's national program office),
provided extensive editorial guidance.
What
We Did: We developed the concept for the
series, conducted original research, wrote, edited,
and designed the publications, commissioned art/photography,
and supervised all phases of production and distribution.
Quality,
Benefits, and Impacts: Over its seven years
of life, series print runs nearly doubled, growing
from 12,500 to some 22,000. Series mailing lists
included, among others, all members of Congress,
key chairs of state legislative committees in
all states, executive branch officials within
state government, as well as reformers and clinicians
across the country. Other groups of policy leaders
such as the membership of the American College
of Probate Judges were reached through special
distributions. Focus group participants drawn
from influentials who had read series briefs viewed
them as "factual," "interesting,"
"user-friendly," "credible,"
and "high quality publications that appeal
to a broad audience."
